D-Link Green
D-Link constantly strives to take the lead in developing innovative technologies that enable energy savings without sacrificing performance and functionality. The DGS-1210 series automatically detects cable length and can adjust power usage for energy savings on shorter cable connections, up to 20 meters.
Link-State Power Saving helps save more power by automatically switching ports without a link to sleep mode, thereby drastically reducing power consumption. The DGS-1210 series focuses on green technology and takes power saving a step further by incorporating a special chipset with advanced silicon technology.

Perfect integration
The DGS-1210 series comes with Ethernet and Gigabit ports capable of connecting to existing Cat.5 network ports. In addition, the last 2 or 4 ports of the DGS-1210 series combine SFP and copper connectivity in one port, thus offering a more flexible solution for server downlink and uplink connections via fiber interface. Using the default configuration, the administrator can quickly configure the switch without worrying about re-configuring any settings and provides easy access for the user.

Extensive Layer 2 Features
Equipped with comprehensive L2 features, these switches include IGMP snooping, port mirroring, Spanning Tree Protocol, and Link Aggregation Control (LACP). The IEEE 802.3x Flow Control feature allows servers to connect directly to the switch for fast and reliable data transfer. At 2000Mbps full duplex, the Gigabit ports provide high speed server pipelines with minimal data transfer loss. Network maintenance features include Loopback Detection and Cable Diagnostics. Loopback Detection is used to detect loops created by a specific port and automatically shut down the affected port. Cable Diagnostics is designed for network administrators, quickly examining the quality of copper cables and also determining the type of cable fault.

QoS, Bandwidth Control
The switches are ideal for deployment in VoIP environments as it supports Auto Voice VLAN and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) QoS for VoIP application. Auto Voice VLAN instead places voice traffic from an assigned IP phone into a VLAN and thereby improves VoIP service. With higher priority and individual VLANs, this feature ensures the quality and security of VoIP traffic. DSCP marks parts of an IP packet, allowing different levels of service to be assigned for network traffic.
With bandwidth control, the network administrator can reserve bandwidth for important functions that require higher bandwidth or need to be given high priority.

Secure your Network
D-Link's innovative Safeguard Engine feature protects the switches from flooded traffic caused by virus attacks. The switches also support port-based 802.1X authentication, allowing the network to be authenticated through external RADIUS servers. Additionally, the Access Control List (ACL) feature enhances network security and helps protect the internal IT network.

Versatile Administration
The DGS-1210 Series provides SmartConsole utility and web-based management that allows administrators to remotely control their network down to the port level. The SmartConsole easily allows customers to discover multiple D-Link Web Smart Switches on the same L2 network segment.
The DGS-1210 series also supports D-View 6.0 and Command Line Interface (CLI) via Telnet.
