This allows a configuration of the system that can drive a fairly large passive optical network (PON) before the signal finally feeds a series of optical converters for traditional coaxial cable distribution. The stacking / unstacking technology provides a very cost-effective solution, since a single laser carries the four complete satellite polarities in an optical cable. This, unlike traditional fiber optic solutions that require a laser by polarity, means a substantial cost saving, without compromising the signals, range or quality of the satellite.
This means that not only is the investment in fiber optic cables maintained at an absolute minimum, but the full PON also benefits from the same savings. The DC power of the LNB is made through a coaxial cable and an F connector. The power supply is included in the kit. A high quality FC / PC type fiber optic connector is used for optimal outdoor performance.
